Hi, I'm Michael Ray. I am a freelance composer, educator, and lifelong musician. For examples of my work, please check out some highlights from my portfolio below.

  • An Original Musical

Debuting Summer 2024, in collaboration with my wife, Dani, who writes lyrics. (She’s the smart one…the funny one, too.)

The Event is now streaming on Apple Music, Spotify and other streaming platforms.

  • This is an 8-Minute Choral Piece: "A Song For The Brave"

Commissioned by the Sing Me a Story Foundation, composed in collaboration with Dani. I am waiting on a copy of the actual choir singing it, though I think Dani and I did a pretty good rendition of it with just our two voices.

  • Two scores for a horror short

I created two scores for a short titled The Good Neighbor directed by Krys Bailey.

  • Master's Program Compositions

  • Subject Virtual Learning

I co-wrote an AP Music Theory course for Subject and went to L.A. to teach it. (Look for the goob in the gray shirt in the AP section).

  • Commercials for Front Porch Improv

  • On Your Shoulders - A Children's Story

An illustrated and animated story following the adventures of a boy and his father.

About Me

About Me

In my previous life, I was a choral director and music director for more than 40 high school and middle school shows. I am an experienced music educator at the middle, high school and college levels. I received my Bachelor’s of Music from Ohio University and my Master’s of Music in Music Composition from UT. There are even more random musical (mis)adventures to be found in my YouTube portfolio! I continue to play keys, pull music out of thin air for the occasional madcap improv show, and sometimes feel seriously compelled to make zany videos.
